FOR DEMOCRATIC DISTRICT LEADER
ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 34, PART A
I'm running to be District Leader because I want to revitalize local Democratic club organizing in western Queens and help mobilize local Dems to help Democratic candidates win in flippable, swing districts near us. In our neighborhoods, the deciding elections are the Democratic primaries in June, so we have months of organizing we can do to help beat Republicans come November.
After the 2024 election, I heard from many neighbors who were devastated but didn't know what they could do to fight the Trump administration. I want to organize to empower these neighbors to help Democrats in tight races that will make an impact, like defeating Republican Mike Lawler in New York's 17th Congressional District, just north of New York City.
In 2024, I volunteered my time to organize hundreds of volunteers to go to Pennylvania to canvass Spanish-speaking voters to get out the vote to stop Donald Trump and his hateful agenda. I saw a need that the Harris campaign was not meeting, so I made calls, sent emails, and kept pushing until I figured out a way to get access to buses, I relentlessly recruited volunteers (later with the help of Team AOC), and I worked with the Harris campaign's field staff in cities like Redding and Hazelton to bring them volunteers that they desperately needed. The longer distance meant that I had to train people and assign lists of voters on the bus so we could hit the ground running when we arrived. By the final weekend before the election, we had three buses filled with volunteers. Even though we lost the election, the sense of camaraderie and empowerment that filled those buses made the effort well worth it.
I want to help create some of the energy and magic in our neighborhood Democratic club. Democratic clubs are places where people can come together to learn, to organize, to activate, and to be part of creating a community of shared political values, but our local ones have slowly declined, which is a loss to our community. We may not all perfectly agree on our ideologies or positions on the spectrum of the Democratic party, but we all still agree that we must fight the Republican agenda. Let's come back together as a community of Democrats and organize together to help Democrats win where we can!

ABOUT ME
I'm an environmental, climate, and sustainability policy advocate and organizer. I've advocated for and organized around city and state legislation to reduce plastics, transition off of fossil fuel infrastructure, fund renewable energy projects, and to make super polluters pay. On the federal level, I've focused on reforming the Farm Bill to stop subsidizing corporate agriculture monopolies and the industrial ag system to instead fund or incentivize climate-smart, sustainable farming practices and systems.
Locally, I co-founded the Astoria Not For Sale campaign and was a leader in the fight to win more affordable housing and community benefits from the billionaire developers behind the 5-block InnovationQNS project.
I do indpenedent cat rescue and TNR with some local animal lovers, and I am a proud cat lady.
Astoria has been my happy home for 20 years.
